Famed photographer was given the the pleasure of photographing the great M.I.A. for NY Times Mag. At first glance you can see he captured the many angles of the fresh yet poetic songbird. One of my favorite photographers took time to shoot one of the best in the game of basketball. Terry Richardson did this spread of Kobe Bryant for the Marc 2010 issue of GQ magazine.

Congrats are due to William "Billy" Reid. GQ announced to today that he was awarded “2010 Best New Menswear Designer In America.” In 2004, he launched Billy Reid, a collection with roots in the designer’s Southern past.His shop locations include New York City, Nashville, Charleston, Charlotte, Dallas, and Houston.” As the winner he’s taking home some money, some shop placement, and (and maybe the most important) placement on GQ’s September 2010 cover. I wanted to pay tribute to Sade’s “Pearls” by visually capturing a young woman in Hollywood that indirectly identifies with the same feelings of solitude and vulnerability as the woman in Sade’s lyrics. I love the song and though Alycia’s living conditions do not reflect those of the character Sade’s lyrics are based on, African-American women in general are faced with everyday obstacles of their own, toward dreams, that according to Alycia “sometimes feel out of reach.”

Dolce & Gabbana have launched Rose The One, a new rose-centered flanker to 2006’s Dolce & Gabbana The One fragrance for women, based around the idea of a rose perfume.

The image of the perfume will be embodied by Scarlett Johansson, who was made to look like a total strawberry blonde to go with the fragrance and the strawberries she is eating in the commercial.

Stefano Gabbana told WWD: “For Domenico and myself, roses have always been our favorite flowers, our gardens are full of roses in every color and type,”

“This fragrance has a perfume that Dolce & Gabbana has never done before. We’ve never done something so explicitly linked to one flower before,” said Dolce.

The notes include blackcurrant, pink grapefruit, mandarin, lily of the valley, rose, litchi, peony, Madonna lily, ambrette seed, sandalwood, musk and vanilla.

Filmed in a Los Angeles studio, the commercial depicts Johansson in a custom-made Dolce & Gabbana rose pink tulle dress. Liberated from Luxuo

 

 

I must say I love the magazine spread but the album artwork is lacking.

One of the greatest events ever created this year has already been confirmed for 2010. Fashion Night Out, if you didn't caught it this year you missed out on your favorite stores staying open late, serving champagne and playing music aas loud as possible. It was the premiere event during NYC 2009 Fashion Week and is sure to be bigger and better in 2010. If you missed running thru the city shopping and meeting all the top designers and celebs make it your business to attend. The only question now is east coast, west coast, Japan or Europe.

For her latest ad campaign, Victoria Beckham has chosen the St Stephens Gardens in Westminister London for let models swing in unison on the doorstep of Central London Townhouses.

Shot in one take and co-directed by Mat Jerrett and Beckham herself, the short video is entitled Swings and also shows Victoria in a small cameo with her profile visible in the last few seconds wearing an elegant piece of her new collection.

Beckham’s Fall 2009 fabulous dress collection is stylish but timeless with classically-inspired pieces. It will be available at Bergdorf Goodman.
